What to do in case of breakdown with your FB Rent vehicle in Morocco
A breakdown during your rental is rare with our recent fleet, but it can happen. Golden rule: **don't try to repair yourself** and call us immediately. Here's the full procedure to follow.
· Mis à jour le
Step 1 — Secure the situation
Whatever the type of breakdown, your first priority is safety: - Turn on hazard lights - If possible, move the vehicle to the right side (emergency lane or nearest pull-off) - Get out and put on your high-visibility vest - Place the warning triangle 50 m away in town, 150 m on highway - Get all passengers out, opposite side from traffic Don't stay in the vehicle on the highway, it's dangerous.
Step 2 — Call FB Rent
Once the situation is safe, call our 24/7 assistance: +212 6 51 72 08 10. Provide: - Your name and contract number - Vehicle license plate - Exact location (road, kilometer, visible sign, GPS coordinates) - Type of breakdown (won't start, smoke, warning light, tire, etc.) - Whether you're on highway or secondary road Our team organizes a tow truck, replacement vehicle, or remote assistance depending on the case.
Step 3 — Don't repair yourself
Without our explicit agreement, don't have the vehicle repaired. Possible consequences: - Non-refundable expenses: an unauthorized garage doesn't engage our insurance - Contract breach: modifying the vehicle violates our terms (article 3) - Coverage cancelled for subsequent claims For simple details (light bulb, tire pressure): call us first, we authorize case by case.
Common breakdowns: what to do
Flat tire: our vehicles have a spare tire. You can change it yourself, otherwise call us. Tire is on us unless serious cause (curb impact). Dead battery: happens after long parking. Call us, tow truck within 10-15 min in town. Engine overheating: red thermometer light. Stop immediately. Never unscrew the radiator cap when hot (severe burns). Call us. Orange warning light (service, ESP): generally non-blocking. Continue cautiously and call to confirm. Red warning light: immediate stop, call. Won't start: check key, clutch (manual), P position (auto). Otherwise: call us.
Replacement vehicle
If the breakdown immobilizes the vehicle for more than a few hours, we organize a replacement vehicle: - Within 50 km of Casa, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier: replacement within 2h on average - Further away: 4-6h depending on distance - Same category or higher (never lower) No extra cost if breakdown is mechanical (not caused by driver fault).
Outside Morocco... no
Important reminder: our vehicles cannot cross Moroccan borders. Any breakdown outside the territory is excluded from insurance and contract (article 3). If you cross a border, you alone are responsible and we charge recovery costs.
What about your security deposit?
A mechanical breakdown not caused by your driving doesn't affect your deposit. Released normally at return. A breakdown caused by fault (no oil, ignored overheating, severe curb hit) may be charged based on repair cost, within deposit limit. Rare and always documented with mechanic report.
